Mental Health Ambassador
Damien Coates
Mental ill-health is a major issue facing society and workplaces.
One in every two Australians will experience mental illness within their lifetime
65% of people experiencing mental illness symptoms do not seek treatment
The WHO predicts by 2030, mental illness will have overtaken all other illnesses combined
Black Dog Institute
We’ve partnered with Black Dog Institute to raise awareness and break down stigmas surrounding mental illness.
Black Dog Institute’s Vision 1 in 5 Australians will experience symptoms of mental illness in a year. That’s approximately 5 million of us. Brothers. Mothers. Husbands. Children. And Friends. They want to change these statistics. Black Dog Institute is about creating better mental health for all Australians. Better treatments, better diagnosis, better knowledge, better programs, better workplaces, better classrooms and better communities.
Through Science, Compassion and Action, they know the power of better. They’re about better mental health outcomes through our clinical services, digital tools and apps, educational programs and training backed by our world-leading research, scientific evidence and proof. Better mental health for all.

Since 2014 DUAL has hosted the Melbourne Tan Run event where 150 clients join us running a lap around the Melbourne Botanical Gardens, and in 2023 we will also be hosting events in Brisbane and Sydney.
In April 2023, 12 DUAL employees participated in our inaugural ANZ Charity Hike for Black Dog Institute climbing the 3 highest mountains in Victoria. This group challenged themselves physically with the hike with many of them having never hiked before, and they fundraised an incredible $39k for Black Dog Institute.
DUAL Staff Volunteering & Participation
For every hour of Volunteering or Participation (for example in a fun run) undertaken by an employee, DUAL donates $50 to their charity of choice. We pro-actively promote opportunities to get involved in the community and with Black Dog Institute events. Many employees choose to donate these funds to Black Dog Institute.
